Considering Taylor Swift‘s “ME!” is one of the happiest songs in her entire discography, it may come as a surprise to some that she’s gone through some rough patches throughout her career. Despite constantly smiling for the cameras and being an inspiration to Swifies everywhere, the “Look What You Made Me Do” crooner just admitted to having some “really low” points in her life.
That’s right, you guys. The pop star recently opened up about these low points in a radio interview with The Zach Sang Show, explaining that there have been times she had no choice but to take years off from making music.
When asked how she keeps things “fresh,” new and innovative, the 29-year-old said, “It’s not always fresh for me. There have been times where I needed to take years off because I just felt exhausted, or I felt like, really low or really bad.”
Like you, we never would’ve guessed that Tay’s faced these kinds of struggles — especially since she always seems so calm, cool, collected and calculated when it comes to her career. Alas, it’s important to remember that she’s human too, and we all experience feelings of sadness every now and then.
Fortunately, the “Delicate” songstress has found her way out of that funk and is super excited to be releasing a new album, which fans have dubbed TS7 as they wait for the title to be confirmed. She even opened up to Zach Sang about the process of making an album and the feelings that come along with releasing it after working so hard on it privately for many years.
“You never really have the same process making an album,” she explained. “Right now, thankfully, I feel really energized which I’m feeling really grateful for. It’s not something that I take for granted, that I feel this energized and this excited about this new music because now I know that’s not always how you feel. Sometimes you can just feel really scared of everything, and so I’m very, very conscious of how I do feel about this new music and how there’s such excitement surrounding it.”
Well, she’s right about that! We can’t wait for this new music to drop, and considering how epic each and every one of her albums have been thus far, we know she’s going to totally crush it with this one too.
