Is the song about Joe Alwyn?

OK, so it’s safe to say that the song is indeed about her boyfriend, Joe! How do we know? Well, one lines of the song reads, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, but I want ’em all.” Now, we’re not 100 percent sure when Joe and the singer started dating, but rumors first hit the web that they were an item in May 2017. That would mean that they’ve been together for three summers now — 2017, 2018 and 2019! So it just has to be about him, right?

Oh, and did we mention that Taylor included a British flag in the lyric video for the new song? As fans know, her boyfriend is actually from England — coincidence? We think not. Taylor also sings about keeping Christmas lights up until January, and fans were quick to notice that Joe posted a photo of his Christmas tree still up in January 2017!

And wait, there’s more. Taylor also dropped a major bombshell about their relationship in the new song. She revealed that she and Joe have moved in together! Taylor sings about sharing a place in the love song, and our hearts are bursting.

“This is our place, we make the rules,” the lyrics read. “This is our place, we make the call.”

Is Taylor Swift engaged or married?

And living together may not be the only major step Joe and Taylor have taken in their relationship recently. Based off the lyrics to “Lover,” some fans are convinced that Taylor and Joe are engaged or even married!

“Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand? / With every guitar string scar on my hand / I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover,” the blonde beauty sings in the new song.

OK, now it definitely sounds like she’s talking about a wedding here.

“My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue / All’s well that ends well to end up with you,” the song continues.

In case you didn’t already know, it’s supposed to be good luck for a bride to have something “old, new, borrowed and blue” at her wedding. So was that a hint that they’re already married? Well, according to E! News, no, they aren’t. Ugh, until they announce something, we can’t say for sure – but either way, it’s clear they’re madly in love.

The Cats: The Musical star also threw in a few nods to her old songs in the new track! Take the line, “All’s well that ends well to end up with you,” for example. Fans are convinced that she’s referring to her old song, “All to Well,” with that one. She also refers to her boyfriend as a “magnetic force of a man” in the new song. As fans know, she seemingly sang about Joe’s “magnetic field” in the song “Gorgeous.”

Some Swifties even think she threw a dig at her ex John Mayer with the line, “This is our place, we make the rules.” In her 2010 song “Dear John,” Tay sang, “And I lived in your chess game / But you changed the rules every day.”

We all know that Taylor is, like, the queen of hidden messages at this point. So it’s no surprise that she threw a “Lover” Easter egg in the “ME!” music video back in May! Yep, the video opened up with a scene of her and Brendon Urie fighting, and there’s actually a Christmas tree in the background!

“We could leave the Christmas lights up ’til January,” Taylor sings in the new song.
