Thursday, December 5 is a very important day. Why? Well, it’s Walt Disney‘s birthday, of course! That’s right, the founder of Disney was born on December 5, 1901 — over 100 years ago — and he accomplished a lot throughout his life.

The entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer (who unfortunately passed away in 1966) started Disney Brothers Studio with his brother Roy in the early 1920s. They developed the character Mickey Mouse in 1928, and dropped Disney’s first full-length animated feature — Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs — in 1937. The company went on to release a bunch of classic animated films, including The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Cinderella, Moana, Frozen and more!

In 1983, Disney launched the Disney Channel — which is home to some of the biggest TV shows and movies ever. Without Walt, fan favorites like Wizards of Waverly Place, High School Musical, the Descendants flicks, Hannah Montana, Lizzie McGuire, Jessie, Austin & Ally, Suite Life of Zack and Cody and more would never have been created!

He had a huge impact a lot of people’s childhoods, and in honor of his birthday, J-14 decided it’s time to take a walk down memory lane and relive some of the best Disney Channel shows ever!
