When you’re madly in love with someone, there’s no more permanent way to show it off than getting a tattoo for them. But unfortunately, if things end up not working out with that person, it might be a little awkward, especially considering tattoos are stuck on your body forever! And that’s what happened to Ariana Grande after she and Pete Davidson split. It was reported that the “God Is A Woman” singer got five tats for her beau during their relationship, and ever since they called off their engagement back in October, she’s been slowly covering up all the ink.

In the behind-the-scenes footage for Ariana’s new “Thank U, Next” music video, she revealed that she’s replaced a Pete inspired tattoo and she happened to cover it with a tribute to her other ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller. In the clip, the 25-year-old was practicing the famous “bend and snap” move from Legally Blonde since she recreated some of our favorite scenes from a few girl-power inspired movies for the music video. As she’s practicing the move, her new ink catches her eye and she can’t help but gush over it to the camera.

“I love my tattoos! I just went down to do ‘bend and snap’ and was like, ‘Oh, what a foot!’” the singer laughed. “Look at my Myron, guys, look! How cool, right?”

The tattoo used to read, “8414,” which was the badge number of her ex-fiancé’s firefighter father, who passed away on Sept. 11, 2001. It now reads, “Myron,” which is the name of Mac’s dog she now takes care of. As J-14 readers know, Mac passed away from an overdose back in September, and Ariana is understandably still mourning. On Thanksgiving, she shared a sweet throwback pic of herself with the rapper and not too long before that, she replied to a fan’s recording of one of his old Instagram Live videos. In the clip, he can be heard listening to her song “R.E.M.” off of her Sweetener album. “He is supposed to be here,” Ariana wrote in response to seeing the footage.

It’s only natural for Ariana to be missing her former boyfriend and longtime friend after losing him so suddenly, and the new tattoo could not be sweeter. This is also not the first time she’s covered up ink she got with Pete. Last month, fans noticed that the star’s “Reborn” tattoo that she had gotten for the Saturday Night Live star was covered with an intricate feather design instead. She’s really out here saying “Thank U, Next” to every aspect of that former relationship, that’s for sure.
