YouTube star Olivia Jade‘s life was sent into a tailspin in recent weeks after it was revealed that her mom, Lori Loughlin, was involved in an enormous college admissions scandal. Well, despite that huge legal mess, Vlog Squad founder David Dobrik wants people to know that he totally has the social media star’s back — even if her mom did pay $500,000 to make sure she would get into USC.

That’s right, you guys! The 22-year-old vlogger spoke about Olivia briefly at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 23, and he confirmed to Us Weekly that he’s spoken to her and is supporting her every step of the way.

“[Olivia is] a strong girl and she’s a smart girl, so she’ll be good.” he told the mag. “We’re definitely all checking in with her.”

If you’re wondering why he’s being so supportive of the 19-year-old internet celebrity, it’s because he understands that he could find himself in a mess of his own someday. In other words, if the whole world collectively decides to cancel him at some point, he’d like to think his friends would show their support instead of turning their backs like everybody else.

“Who knows? I’m gonna catch myself in some stupid stuff later and, hopefully, I’ll have a good support system too,” he told Us.

That’s not all, though. After the YouTube star made those comments about supporting his friend Olivia, he went on to sing the iconic Hannah Montana song that we all turn to during rough times (you know the one).

“Everyone makes mistakes; everyone has those days,” he sang.

But just because her YouTube besties have her back, that doesn’t exactly mean that life’s been easy for the social media star since the scandal broke.

A source told Us Weekly, “She doesn’t know what to do next. It’s now hard to make money and she receives hate if she even puts herself out there.”

So far, she’s been dropped from several brands she was working with. Her clothing line with Princess Polly has been discontinued and she’s also gotten the boot from Sephora, so it’s safe to say her mother’s actions have definitely taken their toll on her once-burgeoning career.

As for the future of the scandal, Lori and her husband are scheduled to appear in court on April 3, so we guess we’re just going to have to wait to see how this mess ends. Yikes!
