YouTuber James Charles is fighting back after someone hacked his Twitter account on Saturday, August 24 and threatened to release a personal photo of him. The influencer decided to share the nude photos himself, in an attempt to take back his power.
“Hi I got my account back. Just case I ever get hacked again, here’s the ONLY nude I’ve ever taken! Can’t threaten me with it now. Get a life,” he wrote on Twitter, alongside a snap which showed off his rear side.
But after coming under fire for sharing the naked picture, the 20-year-old social media star took to Twitter to defend himself.
“You have fans that are children that look up to you. You’re sick as f–k,” one hater wrote, to which he replied, “It’s a butt, get over it.”
“Literally no one asked for this,” another user tweeted him.
“Yeah well I didn’t ask to have my security and privacy threatened either, so this is me taking back ownership of the situation. Move on with your day,” the beauty guru fired back.
As fans know, James isn’t the only celebrity to deal with this recently. Back in June 2019, Disney alum Bella Thorne went through a very similar situation. She was also forced to post personal photos of herself, after being threatened by a hacker.
“Yesterday, as you all know my s–t was hacked. For the last 24 hours I have been threatened with my own nudes. I feel gross. I feel watched. I feel someone has taken something from me that I only wanted one special person to see,” she wrote on Twitter, alongside the pictures. “He has sent me multiple nude photos of other celebrities. He won’t stop with me or them he will just keep going. For too long I let a man take advantage of me over and over and I’m f–king sick of it. I’m putting this out because it’s MY DECISION NOW. YOU DON’T GET TO TAKE YET ANOTHER THING FROM ME. I can sleep tonight better knowing I took my power back. You can’t control my life. You never will.”
“Here’s the photos he’s been threatening me with. In other words, here’s my boobies,” she continued. “So here, f–k you. The last 24 hours I have been crying instead of celebrating my book while doing my book press. Oh yeah, the FBI will be at your house shortly, so watch your mother f–king back.”
Etika, Shane Dawson, Amanda Cerny and King Bach‘s Twitter accounts were all also compromised in recent months. This is definitely not OK and we really hope these hackers faces some consequences for their actions.
