He’s back! After taking a one month break from the platform, James Charles has officially made his return to YouTube. On June 18, 2019, he posted his first video since his recent scandal, and fans are pretty excited to see him uploading new content again.

In the new video, called “Hi Sisters,” James recreated one of his favorite Pride makeup looks. But he also took a moment to address his month-long break.

“I’m ready to come back and work so hard and see all of you sisters,” he said in the new 27-minute video. “For the past three years I’ve been literally addicted to filming videos and checking my social media. It was so much fun but it got to a point where it was incredibly toxic for me and my mental health. After everything that just went on on social media, I just kind of needed some time to detox, slow it down and of course, still do what I absolutely love — which is handling business, playing with makeup and seeing my friends. I just did it on a little bit of a lower scale.”

But the influencer explained that stepping away from the limelight over the last month has definitely helped him a lot.

“I’m excited to say that after the last month, I’ve done a lot of growing and thinking. I’m now able to leave my phone in another room and walk out and enjoy life,” he continued. “That sounds so stupid but for me that’s major, major progress. I’m in a better state than I was mental health wise, and I’m just so blessed to have the amazing friends that I have around me. It’s been a really, really incredible and eye opening month and I’m very, very excited to tell you guys about it.”

In case you missed it, the 20-year-old social media star’s former BFF Tati Westbrook practically shook the internet back in May when she uploaded a 40-minute video accusing James of manipulating straight men and calling him out for being a bad friend. After that, a ton of other YouTubers, celebrities, fans and even some of James’ friends started to turn on him. He lost over 3 million subscribers, and a bunch of rumors started spreading about the makeup mogul.

But on May 18, 2019, the beauty guru posted a video of his own, called “No More Lies,” where he addressed everything. He even included a ton of receipts, which seemingly proved Tati’s allegations to be false. He also revealed in the video that after everything that had gone down, he needed to take a break from uploading new videos.

“I decided I’m going to be taking some much needed time away from content production. On my last few videos, I’ve definitely noticed quite a lot of comments talking about my how ego or my attitude is getting the best of me and getting to my head, and I appreciate the constructive criticism and feedback,” he said. “After a lot of reflection, I think you’re right. I’ve lost focus, and that sucks so much. I wanna get back to it so badly, and I want to get back to my original goal where I had no motivation other than creating original content. That’ll happen for sure and I already have some great ideas in the works, but it’s just going to take a little bit of time.”

Well, we are so glad to see that James is at a better place and that he’s back to his old self.
