On Friday, August 14, Sway House members threw a major party to celebrate TikTok star Bryce Hall‘s 21st birthday. According to a lengthy Twitter thread posted by Def Noodles, they had the “massive” party, despite California’s recommendation that residents avoid prolonged, unmasked contact with those outside of their homes. Alleged photos and videos from the event showed “over a hundred people” partying without masks until the gathering was reportedly shut down by the Los Angeles Police Department at 4:00 A.M.

Social media users posted videos from the party that showed LAPD cars parked outside the Sway House. In one clip, someone can be heard seemingly saying, “You gotta head out, guys.” The LAPD has not publicly addressed the situation.

Previously, on August 5, the mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, announced in a press conference that he authorized the city to shut off water and power services to any households hosting large parties, adding that this was aimed at “people determined to break the rules” during the pandemic.

Following Bryce’s party, comedian Elijah Daniel claimed on Twitter that he “spoke to the mayor’s office” about shutting off the Sway House and the Hype House‘s power and water

“I’m sure you’ll be told this but after your power and water gets shut off on Tuesday, if you continue to party they can and will try to charge you with domestic bioterrorism to make an example out of you,” he wrote.

As fans know, this isn’t the first time TikTok stars and various influencers have come under fire for partying amid the pandemic. Previously, Hype House cofounder Thomas Petrou spoke out and explained exactly why influencers will not stop partying.

“Our jobs are to entertain people,” the Hype House cofounder recently told The New York Times. “We live with groups of people, and we are all intertwined for work. We can’t put our entire lives on hold for a year and not make any money.”

Jake Paul also told Insider that he’s “not gonna sit around and not live his life” after he also hosted a massive party. News reports even claimed that the mayor of Calabasas, CA — Alicia Weintraub — was “outraged” after a video went viral from the 23-year-old’s gathering hosted at the Team 10 house.

The Sway House and its members have did not immediately respond to J-14‘s request for comment.
