Pop star Ariana Grande just keeps breaking records, and this time she has surpassed Selena Gomez as the most followed woman on Instagram. Sorry, Sel!

For those of you who don’t know, the “Back To You” songstress has been the most followed woman on Instagram for quite some time now, racking up a grand total of 146,267,801 followers. However, a new report shows that the “Thank U, Next” singer has officially broken Selena’s record, garnering a total of 146,286,173 followers. Wow!

In the grand scheme of things, there isn’t really that big of a difference between their follower counts, and sadly, only one person stands in the way of one of them getting the top spot: Christiano Ronaldo.

That’s right, you guys! The soccer star actually took the top spot from the “It Ain’t Me” singer back in October, when it was reported that he had roughly 8,000 more followers than the former Disney Channel actress. How crazy is that?!

Now, however, Sel finds herself in third place. So how did it happen? Well, in case you haven’t noticed, Ariana’s gotten way more popular over the last several months. From her highly talked about failed engagement to all of her new music, people can’t seem to stop talking about her, which is why her social media accounts have been growing rapidly.

According to Billboard, the 25-year-old gained more than 13 million new Instagram followers in the last four months alone, which is pretty impressive if you ask us. And honestly, Selena announced a big social media hiatus back in September, so it’s not all that surprising that her Instagram account has slowed down a bit.

Of course, it’s important to remember that this kind of thing doesn’t actually matter, and really, the title can be taken away at any moment. Plus, let’s not forget that the 26-year-old “Wolves” songstress recently teased a new song with Benny Blanco and J Balvin, so she could be back on top of her Instagram game in no time. Watch out, Ari!
