YouTuber Shane Dawson is convinced that he had the coronavirus and that he spread it to his BFF, Jeffree Star, and his fiancé, Ryland Adams.

Taking to his Instagram Stories, the social media star explained that he was sick back in January, and that he had similar symptoms to that of the coronavirus. He explained that, at the time, doctors tested him for the flu and that the results came back negative, so they couldn’t figure out what illness he had or what was wrong with him. Now, the vlogger is convinced that he had the coronavirus and that he accidentally passed it on to his friends and family.

“I think I had the corona. I think everybody around me had the corona, and I’ve traced it back to myself. Not saying I’m patient zero, because I don’t leave my house. There is somebody who came into my house that I think gave it to me, because they were sick, and then like four days later I got really sick,” Shane explained. “I call the doctor to come to my house, because I was like, couldn’t move, couldn’t get out of bed. I was dehydrated. Doctor comes over. They do the swab thing. This is before corona, like, it was around but it wasn’t like a thing in LA. Nobody was testing for it. So the doctor does the test, I get a call the next day, saying, ‘Really weird, you’re negative for every strain of flu and every cold and every virus.'”

The influencer explained that the doctor thought his symptoms might have been linked to depression.

“I literally had a full mental breakdown that night because I was just like, ‘I’m sick, the doctor thinks I’m making it up,'” he added. “Because there wasn’t a corona test at the time.”

Coronavirus is thought to have originated in Wuhan, China, with the first case in America being reported on January 21, 2020. According to the World Health Organization, since then, more than 197,000 people have contracted the illness, resulting in more than 8,000 deaths.

Shane isn’t the only star to think he caught the disease before it broke out in America. On March 16, 2020, James Charles took to Twitter to let everyone know that he was convinced he had already had it.

The beauty guru reposted a tweet that said, “This isn’t a conspiracy tweet but I really think COVID-19 has been here in America for awhile. Do you guys remember how sick everyone was during the holidays/early January? And how everyone was saying they had the flu and the flu shot ‘didn’t work?’”

“Remember at New Years when I was literally sick for a month and a half straight? I’ve never been that sick for that long,” the makeup mogul added. “All of the symptoms I was dealing with match those of COVID-19. I’m convinced that I already had corona and beat it… This whole thing is so scary.”
