Yikes! James Charles is clearly not leaving the drama in 2018 because he’s in the midst of yet another Twitter feud. Just three weeks after his fight with YouTuber Lauren Godwin, the beauty guru just got into some more major drama. But this time it was with a 13-year-old boy, and fans are not happy.

It all started when Reuben de Maid did a review of James’ new eyeshadow palette with Youtuber Amanda Ensing, and was not exactly a fan. “The pigment is quite powdery,” he said in his review. “When you blend they start to disappear.”

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, right? But when the Sisters Apparel owner headed to Birmingham in the U.K. to meet some fans and Reuben showed up, James was not having it. He claimed Reuben had asked to come to the event, but after his team said no, the 13-year-old showed up anyway.

“Imagine doing a review completely bashing my palette for attention, DMing me confused asking why I unfollowed you, asking if you could come to my meet & greet, my team says ‘NO,’ but still showing up anyway AND posting stories as if my 8,000 fans are there for YOU!” the 19-year-old wrote on Twitter on Saturday, January 26, 2019.

James is probably referring to Reuben’s now-deleted Instagram post, where he gushed over the attention he got at the event. “Today was WILD! I’m in utter shock. I went to the @morphebrushes grand opening today and had absolutely no idea any of you would even recognize me,” he wrote. “Thank you @bullring and their security staff for being so so amazing and unbelievable!”

The member of the Sister Squad also left a comment on Reuben’s YouTube page, explaining himself. “I unfollowed Reuben before the [review] even went live because I had heard that he was talking poorly about me and many other influencers as well,” he wrote. “I admit that I’m not great at taking criticism of the palette but their video was far more over the top than most, especially using every technique that I recommended against and complaining the shades sucked. His age is not an excuse, being an influencer teaches you a lot of life lessons and matures you quickly no matter what age you come in. People never let my age slide when it came to drama when I started. Point blank, if you’re asked to not show up somewhere, you don’t go… or be petty whilst there too. It’s not an age thing, it’s respect.”

Naturally, some fans were supported the YouTuber, while others were not too happy with his comments. “James… you’re bashing a little boy. This is not a good look on you sister…” one fan replied.

But James was quick to defend himself. “Nope. I was his age only a few years ago and being an influencer with a platform teachers you a lot very fast, respect being a main lesson,” he wrote. “I was never given a pass for my age when I started and neither should anyone else.”

Another fan compared their drama to the time that a YouTuber named Kareem got attacked for claiming children shouldn’t wear makeup. “Literally not even close to comparable,” James responded. “One child did absolutely nothing wrong and was dragged into drama and another was acting egotistical and rude.”

Oh. Snap. But it seems like James may have felt bad about his harsh comments because he later took to Twitter again, sending a message out about how much words can hurt people. “‘Words have consequences’ is one of the hardest life lessons because the only way to learn it is by making a really embarrassing mistake,” he wrote. “But it is also one of the most valuable lessons because it changes the way you approach situations forever.”

Then, on Sunday, January 27, 2019, Reuben took to his own Twitter and Instagram to explain his side of the story, denying James’ allegations. “Just to clarify, I was invited to the James Charles event by Morphe directly,” he wrote. “I never asked James’ team nor had any correspondence from them. I’m a massive fan of James and his work and was hugely looking forward to being there and meeting him again.”

“I had no idea James had an issue with me and if James or his team had asked me not to come of course I wouldn’t have and if this was said to Morphe prior to the event it wasn’t passed on to me,” he continued. “I still respect James and his craft and I’m still a fan and hope everyone can move on.”

As J-14 readers know, this isn’t James’ first controversy. Last year, he commented on Harry Styles‘ sexuality during an Instagram live and fans were not happy. Not to mention, he even had some drama with Shawn Mendes after he left some thirsty comments on the “Mercy” crooner’s Instagram Live. And after the singer ended the video abruptly, fans blamed James’ messages. In the end though, Shawn sent the YouTuber a friendly DM, explaining that they were all good.

Sigh, why can’t everyone just get along?
