It’s been just over a year since Luke Perry tragically passed away, and now, KJ Apa has opened up about what filming Riverdale without the late actor has really been like.

“It’s definitely different on set now,” the actor admitted during an interview with Good Morning America on Monday, March 9. “I think we’re missing something you know? Everyone misses him. I miss him, I miss just talking to him and listening to him.”

As fans know, the beloved star played KJ’s dad, Fred Andrews, in the CW show. He unfortunately passed away on March 4, 2019, after suffering a massive stroke. The news shook the entire world, including his family, friends, fans and of course, the cast of the series.

At the time of his death, Molly Ringwald admitted that the 22-year-old took it the hardest.

“KJ and Luke were very close and had such a unique bond. Luke was really like his father — his American father. He really assumed that role, so watching KJ grapple with that was really tough to watch. As a mother, as just a person, it was hard to watch,” she said at the time.

On the one year anniversary of his death, some Riverdale cast members shared tributes for Luke. Camila Mendes posted a throwback photo with him to her Instagram Stories, which she captioned, “Thinking of you today.” Madelaine Petsch also remembered the star.

“Woke up and realized it’s been a year since we lost you,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a sweet photo of her and Luke talking. “Not a day goes by where I don’t miss you.”

Lili Reinhart took to Twitter to share an emotional message.

“Can’t believe we lost Luke one year ago. It genuinely still feels very surreal. We miss him so much,” she wrote. “Hard to say anything else that expresses the magnitude of his not being here.”

RIP Luke, you will never be forgotten.
