Celebs are always changing things up — especially their hair!
Billie Eilish, for one, shocked fans in early 2021 when she ditched her signature dark hair to reveal a bleach blonde cut. As for why she said goodbye to the iconic brunette look with green roots? The “Happier Than Ever” songstress explained that it had everything to do with anonymity.
‘”I couldn’t go anywhere with that hair because it was so obviously me. I wanted anonymity,” Millie told ELLE in September 2021. “I went to a park with a friend, and I was like, ‘No, I can’t take off my hood!’ I was terrified of the paparazzi and these stalkers I’ve had. But my friend was like, ‘Don’t worry: you’re OK. Nothing’s gonna happen.” And I took my hood off, and I felt like a new person.”
The musician continued, “I had no goal of, ‘This is going to make everybody think differently of me.’ I’ve had different-colored hair and vibes for everything I’ve ever done. I wanted this album to have its own thing. The other day, I posted a video from when I had green hair, and I saw people go, ‘I miss this Billie, the green-haired Billie.’ … I’m still the same person. I’m not just different Barbies with different heads.”
While Billie went blonde for a privacy reason, other stars, like Selena Gomez, just love to have a blonde moment.
“Recently, I went blonde and I had the best time,” the former Disney Channel star told Vogue in September 2021. “I think I’m definitely more of a character when I’m blonde. I felt like I could do crazy looks with my hair, I could try new things with my makeup and it was just so much fun. … I felt so cool and edgy.”
The actress also teased that “blonde Selena is not gone forever.” The first time she decided to try the lighter hair color was in 2017, and eventually brought it back in 2021.
