Fans are mourning the tragic death of Fountains of Wayne singer Adam Schlesinger. The 52-year-old, who was most known for his hit song “Stacy’s Mom,” passed away on Wednesday, April 1, from the coronavirus.

Adam and his Fountains of Wayne bandmates — Chris Collingwood, Jody Porter and Brian Young — started the group in 1995, but were really skyrocketed into fame when they dropped their track “Stacy’s Mom” in 2003. It swept the entire nation at the time and peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Adam also wrote songs for other artists including Nicki Minaj, the Jonas Brothers, Big Time Rush, Katy Perry and more.

For those who missed it, the World Health Organization has reported that over reported that over 930,000 people have contracted the coronavirus so far, resulting in more than 47,000 deaths. Medical professionals have called for “social distancing” to prevent further spreading of the illness, which is defined as “trying to keep yourself away from other people, especially large crowds.” Because of this many events, concerts and festivals have been canceled, including all Broadway plays and sports games. People have been asked to avoid public spaces, stay inside and isolate themselves during this time.

Adam isn’t the only celebrity to test positive for the deadly disease. Justin Bieber‘s pastor, Carl Lentz, Hairspray and Legally Blonde star Laura Bell, Gossip Girl alum Aaron Tveit, Charlotte Lawrence, Liz Mace from the pop duo Megan and Liz, producer Andrew Watt, Frozen 2 actress Rachel Matthews and influencer Arielle Charnas are among those who have unfortunately caught the deadly disease.

KJ Apa‘s parents announced that they had the coronavirus after they returned from Los Angeles, where they had visited the Riverdale star to support his new movie, I Still Believe. August Maturo took to Instagram to tell fans that he was worried that his younger brother, Ocean, may have caught the coronavirus, but that his family can’t access a test to find out if he’s come down with the disease or not.
