Fans were introduced to the supernatural world of Beacon Hills when MTV’s Teen Wolf premiered on June 5, 2011.
Starring Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Tyler Hoechlin, Dylan Sprayberry, Arden Cho, and Daniel Sharman, among others, the series — loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name — followed a teenage boy named Scott who gets bitten by a werewolf in the woods of his hometown. Along with his best friend Stiles, Scott uses his newfound identity to save their town from constant supernatural threats. After six seasons, the show came to an end in September 2017.
Ever since its series finale aired, fans have hoped for a comeback — and the stars have too. Tyler, for one, told MTV that “it’s time” for the show to be rebooted via Twitter in March 2020. “Hey @MTV I think it’s time to bring Teen Wolf back for new episodes. First Jersey Shore Family Vacation. Now Teen Wolf high school reunion. I’m ready. And 28 so it’s an appropriate age,” the actor wrote at the time.
Some of the show’s stars even reunited in June 2020 to spill some major tea about their time filming the series. Dylan, for his part, told viewers that his “heart lies and dies with Teen Wolf,” and his onscreen bestie even admitted to rewatching the entire series amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t seen it in years but I was looking at it from such a different perspective. I cried at every single thing that you were supposed to cry at — maybe more,” Tyler told his former costars. “I was really proud of every single one of us. We really f–king did a cool, really really good job.”
During a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight in October 2020, the actor-turned-musician also said, “I love Teen Wolf, and during the lockdown, I actually rewatched the entire thing and I fell in love with it even more. It’s so good. It’s so good. I’m so proud and impressed.”
After years of leading his pack of Teen Wolf fans, Tyler’s wish came true. In September 2021, it was announced that some of the original stars would reprise their role for the Paramount+ film, Teen Wolf: The Movie.
