Get your jump ropes ready, because we’re taking a walk down memory lane! The Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In! premiered on Disney Channel in 2007 starring Corbin Bleu and Keke Palmer.

In the flick, Corbin starred as a teenage boxer named Izzy who has huge dreams to follow in his dad’s footsteps and win the Golden Gloves. While training, he’s forced to bring his younger sister Karin (Kylee Russell) to watch their friend and neighbor Mary (Keke) competed in a double dutch jump rope competition with her team, the Joy Jumpers — which is eventually renamed to the Hot Chili Steppers. When Mary loses one of her teammates, she begs Izzy to join the Joy Jumpers in order to help them win the city’s double dutch competition.

In order to help out his friend and fulfill his own dreams, Izzy starts jumping rope and boxing. Ultimately, Izzy gives up his dream of winning the Golden Gloves explaining that he was only boxing to make his dad happy. In the end, he stays has a permanent part of Mary’s double dutch team.

Over the years, Keke has shared some memories from the film’s set in various interviews. While chatting with Access in 2013, the True Jackson, VP star revealed that she had her first-ever kiss while filming Jump In! with her costar.

“Corbin Bleu was my first kiss in life,” she recalled at the time. “I was 12 and he was like my first kiss for TV. … It was on the lips! I was very, very nervous. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is the first person I am kissing outside of my family.’ It was real scary for me. We did [the kiss scene] like 20 times. I became really self-conscious, I was like, ‘Should I be having my first kiss on a movie? Should I let that happen to me? Maybe this is all a bad thing?’”

While the cast has never spoken publicly about reprising their roles, singer and former Disney Channel star Jordan Pruitt wants nothing more than a Jump In! sequel. When the movie was released, the songstress was responsible for the now-iconic song “Jump to the Rhythm” and she’s willing and ready to write another tune.

“I know @DisneyChannel isn’t doing DCOM’s anymore, but wouldn’t it be kind of fun to do a Jump In! 2?” she shared via Twitter in September 2020. “I’ll write another theme song!”
