Ever since To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before came out, we’ve all been pretty obsessed with Lana Condor and Noah Centineo‘s relationship. We mean, Peter Kavinsky and Lara Jean Covey’s amazing love story in the movie quickly stole all our hearts, but IRL, they’re just as cute! Although Lana has a boyfriend, we can’t help but ship the two stars — especially since they’re always dropping hints that they’re secretly in love with each other. Well guys, Lana just opened up to Cosmopolitan about her relationship with The Fosters star, and she admitted that they’ve actually been purposely playing it up this entire time. Ugh, thanks for playing with our emotions guys.
“Noah and I definitely encouraged the speculation,” the 21-year-old actress admitted. “But it’s because we believe in the story and the characters and we genuinely love each other. You can truly love someone in a very platonic way.”
Yep, cue a million hearts shattering. As J-14 readers know, the Deadly Class star admitted last month that although she’s madly in love with her boyfriend, Anthony De La Torre, she did feel a lot of chemistry with Noah at first.
“We had just come back from a hot yoga class and we went to his apartment and we ordered pizza. It’s kind of like, ooh, hot yoga, pizza — what’s happening?” she said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It was right before we shot the movie, just getting to know each other, and I felt something. And so it went like this: I looked at him and I was like, ‘Noah, it’s not going to happen between us.’”
“I felt that for the show to do well, we had to be best friend professionals, so I was like, ‘It’s just not going to happen.’ He was like, ‘Yeah, it’s not going to happen,’” she continued. “So we kind of did what we did in the To All The Boys the movie. We kind of like made a contract and set boundaries, and I’m so happy we did that because the movie turned out great and now we’re doing a sequel.”
We guess we need to all come to terms with the fact that Lana and Noah are never going to be together IRL. Sigh. But on the bright side, at least we get to see Peter and Lara Jean together again in the sequel, right? Plus, we have to admit that Lana and her BF Anthony are super cute.
“There’s no other person in this world I want to spend every day doing nothing with,” Lana gushed to Cosmo about her beau. “You best believe I’m gonna hold on to him real tight.”
