These leading ladies are saying goodbye to Riverdale and hello to Springfield! That’s right, Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Madelaine Petsch are set to guest star on a special, upcoming episode of the animated series The Simpsons, and we can’t wait.
According to EW, titled “The Hateful Eight-Year Olds,” the episode will air on Sunday, May 10 and will follow Lisa Simpson, who makes a new friend named Addy — who will be voiced by The Kissing Booth star Joey King. Addy will introduce Lisa to her girl group, which according to the episodes description is “a circle of snooty rich girls,” named Bella-Ella (played by Lili), Sloan (played by Madelaine) and Tessa Rose (played by Camila). Yep, there’s no doubt about it, this is going to be laugh-out-loud hilarious!
After the announcement went live, the actresses took to social media and shared the exciting news with their followers.
“It is truly an incredible, surreal blessing that I was able partake in one of the most iconic television shows ever made. If you’re interested in hearing me voice a b***hy eight year old, watch @thesimpsons May 10th at 8:00 P.M. on FOX,” Lili captioned her post. Camila added on her own social media profile, “Never in my life did I think I’d get to voice a character on The Simpsons, but here we are! It’s me, @lilireinhart and @madelame playing mean and annoying [8 year old] girls.”
Naturally, their Riverdale costars were quick to share some sweet words of encouragement. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa even referred to the upcoming appearance as “iconic,” while Marisol Nichols — otherwise known as Hermione Lodge — commented “How fun!” on her on-screen daughter’s post.
Fan-favorite Southside Serpent Rob Raco — otherwise known as Joaquin DeSantos — added a heart-eyed emoji to Camila’s post, and Nathalie Boltt — Penelope Blossom herself — wrote “Wow! Now THAT’S exciting!” in the comments section of Lili’s Instagram. Yep, it’s safe to say everyone’s pretty excited about this epic crossover!
