According to Shane Dawson, no, he is not being investigated by police. Yep, the YouTuber just shut down rumors that authorities got involved following Tati Westbrook‘s tell-all video about him and Jeffree Star.

Keemstar (A.K.A. DramaAlert) posted a screenshot of a text conversation between him and Shane to his Twitter account, in an attempt to set the record straight once and for all. In the snap, he asked the influencer point blank about the rumors.

“My attorney confirmed with the LA Sheriff’s Office today that there is no open investigation,” Shane told him.

For those who missed it, it all started after a YouTuber named Sanders Kennedy posted a video on July 6, 2020, where he claimed that he spoke to LA police on the phone, and that they had confirmed to him that they were investigating Shane.

After he uploaded the video, however, many other stars spoke out about it and claimed that Sanders was lying. YouTuber Nicholas DeOrio even said that he too had called police, and that they “had no idea what Sanders was talking about.”

After that, Sanders posted another video, and this time, he included an alleged recording of him and a police officer talking on the phone. In the recording, an unidentified voice could be heard saying, “Right now it’s a suspicious circumstance investigation. We don’t have enough to call it a crime, but there’s a lot of things we have to look through first, and we also need victims.”

As fans know, Tati posted a video on June 30, 2020, claiming that Shane and Jeffree “coerced and manipulated” her into turning on fellow beauty vlogger James Charles. As fans know, back in May 2019, Tati shook the entire web when she posted a video called “Bye Sisters” where she accused the makeup mogul of lying, manipulating and being a disrespectful person, after he supported one of her rival vitamin companies.

Tati explained in the video that although she did not agree with some of James’ actions, “none of her concerns became overwhelming until she met Shane.” She claimed that she only made the video “because of all the poisonous lies that were fed to her by Shane and Jeffree.”

“I should have known better than to fall for their lies and manipulation but in the end I failed and, instead, I allowed Shane and Jeffree to put a wedge between our friendship,” the YouTuber said.

Shane came under fire recently from Jaden Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith for “sexualizing” Willow Smith when she was 11 years old, and “doing blackface on the regular” in resurfaced old clips.

Shane later responded and claimed that all of Tati’s statements were “lies.” He also apologized for his past actions. His YouTube channel has since been demonetized and Morphe and Target have seemingly removed his products from their stores. Jeffree has not spoken out about the allegations.
