OK, but what about #Varchie, you ask? Camila told
Entertainment Tonight that our favorite couple “is looking pretty solid” in Season 4. Phew. But we have bad news for you #Bughead fans. Cole revealed that his character, Jughead, is actually saying goodbye to the town of Riverdale and is attending a different school for his senior year.
“He’s only back in Riverdale on the weekends,” he said, with Lili adding that the “distance will probably cause some stress” between the couple.
“I think that is going to inevitably put stress on the relationship between Betty and Jughead,” the Suite Life of Zack and Cody actor added. “I think it might be a little bit tense. They might fall, turn away from each other, only to come back together way stronger. I think they’re gonna be really good.”
Well that’s a relief! But Roberto revealed we can expect a major love triangle this season.
“The core of Archie Comics has always been two things. One is that they’ve always been in high school, and two is that there’s always been a love triangle,” the Riverdale creator told Us Weekly. “Strangely, on Riverdale, we haven’t played a lot of high school stuff, and we have not played the classic love triangle as much. So, my hope is that this season we’ll playing a lot more of the high school stuff and more of the love triangle stuff.”
He also told the outlet that it “would be a failure” if they didn’t somehow explore “Archie and Betty together romantically.” OMG. And according to Madelaine, #Choni isn’t looking too good.
“Cheryl is keeping a dead body in her basement, and her girlfriend doesn’t know about it, so I would say rocky roads are ahead,” the actress admitted. “But, as far as we know, right now they are very happy. We’ll see what happens. … [Cheryl] definitely needs some happiness, but it wouldn’t be Cheryl Blossom if there’s not a little chaos.”
“There may be some trouble in the waters,” she also told Cosmopolitan. “I mean, Cheryl’s keeping her brother’s dead body in her basement, which is, like, a fairly large secret. If and when Toni finds that out, it might cause some difficulty. It’s a very sensitive topic. Can you imagine being like, ‘Hey, you need to bury your brother, he probably smells and I have questions about how he hasn’t decomposed yet.'”
But on the bright side, Cheryl and Toni will be rocking some “super cute” matching Halloween costumes.
“But, like, their version of a couples costume,” Madelaine added.
Roberto also revealed to The Wrap that Veronica and Cheryl were going to team up for a new project, and we are living for this duo. Oh, and did we mention that there will be another musical episode in Season4? And get this — there will be a duet with Archie and Veronica! There will also be a Thanksgiving episode, and we’ll get to see the squad go to prom this year! And get this, you guys — there’s going to be a special Halloween episode this season, and according to the showrunner, someone is going to die during it. Uh-oh. Plus, Roberto also revealed the FP and Alice will move in this season and that Archie is starting his own band. We are so here for this! And Marisol told TVLine that her character, Hermione, will be involved in a new romance during Season 4.
