J-14 is scouting out the hottest music around... and this week's pick is Ashlyne Huf!
Here are five things you need to know about Ashlyne Huff, whose debut album drops May 11!
Ashlyne's fave song off her debut album is "Sweet Nothing." "I ended a relationship and I felt nothing," she reveals to J-14. "I called it "Sweet Nothing" because it was an euphoric state of mind. I was like, 'I'm not devastated. What's wrong with me?' The song is very peaceful and serene -- it's totally different from everything else on the album."
Ashlyne has lived in L.A. and Nashville! Her dad, Dann Huff, is a singer and producer who's worked with Bon Jovi, Madonna, and Michael Jackson, so she was always surrounded by music -- and musicians! "When we lived in Los Angeles, I didn't have one female babysitter -- they were all male musicians with blonde hair!" she tells J-14.
Ashlyne will be on tour with Honor Society and Just Kait through May 8. You can find her official tour dates here.
The singer/songwriter keeps 19 diaries! She wrote in her first one (a pink book from Target!) during a 9th grade field trip to Paris. "I hate waking up with an idea because I can't go back to sleep until I write it down," Ashlyne explains. "It's a sickness and I don't plan on fixing it because it's so helpful. It's a therapy!"
Ashlyne's single, "Heart of Gold" was inspired by a boy her BFF was dealing with who just couldn't make up his mind! "He still calls her now, and he doesn't know [how he feels] -- it's been going on for at least two to three years!" she says. You can check out the music video for "Heart of Gold" here (psst -- her sister is one of the dancers!):
