Although Hayley Williams slammed One Direction's new song "Steal My Girl," we're still eager to learn everything we can about their track! In an interview with Niall Horan, the singer hinted that the single was written about a childhood sweetheart — which might dampen our theory that Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne wrote it about their current girlfriends Eleanor Calder and Sophia Smith.
"You’re writing about a girl that you’ve known since you were very young," the Irish singer told Metro. "You have so much in common and that, and everyone is trying to steal her because she’s that nice."
That makes total sense! The opening line, "she's been my queen since we were sixteen" also hints that it was written about a high school girlfriend or crush.
But who's the most likely candidate? Louis dated Hannah Walker in high school, and Liam was involved with Danielle Peazer as a teenager. However, we still don't think they're talking about either of those girls.
Sophia was Liam's childhood crush, and he feels so strongly about her that he's called her "the most beautiful girl in the world." It fits in with the lyrics of the song, and explains why he's still writing about her!
Who do you think this song was really written about? Tell us your theories in the comments!
